Dani Kafri. A sculptor. His traumatic experience during the 1973 Yom Kippur war has thrust him deep towards religion. The Jewish equivalent of becoming a 'Born Again.' He pulled his family along. For 15 years they lived intensively among the ultra orthodox. Dani has stopped creating and in recurring fits of faith has destroyed his old sculptures. They lived convinced that this was the right way and that they had found answers to all questions. When their first born, Yanai, has reached the age of enlisting into the military, he demanded his family´s blessing to join the army. (The ultra orthodox refuse to serve in the military). This was the first sign of a break. Yanai has joined the paratroopers and the entire family has started on the slow and long road back from religion to the world they left behind 15 years before. Today they have reached the end of the road. Back in the secular world. Back to sculpting. Dani describes the process as A Trip In A Foreign Country. Not his. Anti-humanistic and life-denying. The story of a family in 1992.
