The story of Japanese-American men who volunteered to serve in U.S. Army combat battalions during World War II – despite their families confinement to internment camps back home. These soldiers were forced to serve in segregated units. Despite this, they were among the most decorated men in the war. “Nisei Soldier” interweaves rare archival footage and present-day interviews with survivors from the 442nd Japanese American Regimental Combat Team. Although this film is made in traditional documentary style, it tells a little-known story that still carries great emotional (and political) impact today.
