On 11 November 2008, Taiwan's ex- President Chen Shui-Bian, previously a symbol of democracy, was summoned to the Special Investigation Panel on corruption inquiries. Outside of the court, 200 national and international reporters and journalists waited anxiously for the results. On this important occasion, one senior TV news cameraman, who had witnessed the rise of Taiwanese democracy and the great tide of change that swept over the country, was surprisingly absent. It was Jiang, who on this monumental day in Taiwanese history, was ironically walking away from the media industry, about to embark on a new life.
