In 1492 the kings of Castilla and Aragon conquered the reign of Granada to the Muslims. It was the end of the Arabian presence in the Iberian peninsula, and the end of seven centuries of cultural and artistic splendor through four different periods. The Caliphate, under which the Mosque of Cordoba and the city-palace of Medina al Zahra were built. The Taifas period was followed by the Almohads (Seville´s Giralda) and then the Nasrid Kingdom which left the Alhambra. This documentary is a joint venture with the Metropolitan Museum of New York for the exhibition of “Al Andalus, the art of Islamic Spain.” Agustin Villaronga masters his extreme sensibility in cultural mixtures and poetical matters with this narration from the point of view of a wise historian who lives the very last day of the Nasrid reign.
